Hi <<First Name>> 👋

First an announcement: ShiftClick has been downgraded from a bi-monthly to a monthly newsletter 😉

In this issue we #makewithumar , learn about beauty in the viruses (🤯), build animated websites without coding, solve world problems, explore and make Hilbert curves, learn computer science and Emojicode (for real!)

Let's dive in!

🪁 Make with Umar

I am super excited to introduce Make with Umar project. It is a free, virtual makers camp I am starting for kids and adults who like to make things. Read more about it on the website and join now with #makewithumar hashtag.

🦠 Virus, the beauty of the beast

Virus, The Beauty of the Beast is an interactive documentary about viruses. Virus have shells that are made of beautiful patterns and this documentary explores connections between viruses and human designs. Throughout it, you can interact with actual scientific models of viruses.
🔧 Build a website without coding
Not everyone is interested in coding. But most of us want to build great looking websites or landing pages, for one reason or other. With no-code tools like Tilda, you can make a beautiful site, with animations, without learning to code. See a walkthrough here.

🌍 Solve world problems with Global Problem Solvers

Created by Cisco, the Global Problem Solvers is designed to introduce social innovation with a particular focus on how to use technology to create effective solutions to seemingly unsolvable problems. Watch the videos, or make your own solutions like a machine to lift water, or a  solar powered classroom, or solve a local problem with technology
🐈 A Hilbert Curve cat

A Hilbert Curve, named after the German mathematician David Hilbert, is a continuous space-filing curve. They are also fractal and are self-similar and make for a fascinating study. Learn more about Hilbert curves, see why infinite math is useful, generate your own Hilbert curve, or code one. (You can find the algorithm to generate a Hilbert curve in all major languages here) and see why space-filling curves are keys to better digital map tools.

💻 Teach yourself computer science
You can give yourself a world-class CS education without investing years and a small fortune in a degree program 💸, with this definitive guide.
😂😎🎉 Learn Emojicode
Emojicode is a real programming language with playful syntax like 😀 🔤Hello, world!🔤❗️ in place of traditional programming keywords. Learning it can bring some smiles and fun to your programming journey, as well be an enlightening experience. It is not a developed to be an introductory course though so some experience with programming is recommended.
That's it for this issue. See you in two weeks' time.
