Hi <<First Name>> 👋

In this issue we learn digital making with Raspberry Pi, defeat enemies with geometry, travel at the speed of light, learn to use and create SVG fonts, learn creative coding, simulate origami, and more.

Let's dive in!

🐱 Raspberry Pi Digital Making Curriculum

Raspberry Pi Digital curriculum is a free curriculum by the Raspberry Pi Foundation to learn or teach design, programming, physical computing, manufacturing, and collaboration skills. Each topic has a number of activities with easy to follow, step-by-step instructions on four different levels (creator, builder, developer, and maker) and are fun to make. (Fancy making a cat meme generator with HTML/CSS?) This is a superb resource for anyone who wants to learn or teach the digital skills from scratch.

⚡ 35 Online courses for high school

EdX - the famous MOOC platform - has collected their entire catalog of Advanced Placement, high school, and college-freshman-level courses for those restless learners out there. The collection includes courses on various topics, from math to physics and psychology to essay writing.
🐉 DragonBox Elements
According to Forbes if Euclid played video games, this is the app he'd build to teach geometry. DragonBox Elements is a charming game by DragonBox (do take a look at their other games). The goal of the game is simple - build an army to defeat the evil dragon, Osgard. Behind each level are the properties of shapes, with each move you are interacting with geometric proofs.

🤯 Velocity Raptor

Velocity Raptor is a cool game plus simulation of Physics near the speed of light. It aims to help us understand Einstein's theory of Special Relativity. The simulation accurately depicts what you would See when traveling near the speed of light. For example the fact that it takes light some amount of time to reach your eye, it ends up that the world seems to bend and warp. Strange, but very true.
➰ All about SVG fonts

SVG fonts are the latest advance in the font format world. This push forward for fonts resulted in more dynamic and interactive fonts that can create more striking designs. In this article, you can learn what an SVG font is, how to create font files from SVG files, how to create font icons from SVG, and how to use an SVG font. Those are all the basics you need to dive in and get on the SVG bandwagon.

👾 Creative coding with Coding Train
Creative coding is a type of computer programming in which the goal is to create something expressive instead of something functional. It is used to create live visuals, as well as creating visual art and design, entertainment, art installations, projections and projection mapping, sound art, advertising, product prototypes, and much more. Creative coding is often used for the purpose of teaching non-programmers the fundamentals of computer programming in a visual context.

Coding Train is a YouTube channel (and a treasure trove!) dedicated to beginner-friendly creative coding tutorials and challenges by Daniel Shiffman. Daniel covers creative coding tutorials both in Processing (Java based) and its new JavaScript counterpart P5.js
🦚 Origami simulator
Origami simulator is a cool web based app that allows you to simulate how any origami crease pattern will fold. It is a lot of fun to play with. You can explore examples, create new patterns and download them, and can even take a look at the code to see how it is built.
That's it for this issue. See you in next month.
